Why Do Cats Sleep That Much?

Cats sleep long – Abyssinian Johnny takes a nap
Cats Sleep 16 Hours a Day? Actually, sleeping that long takes a lot of energy. They are hunters and hunters need a lot of rest. Cats are not grain eaters, they have to catch their food themselves. Well, the domesticated cat never has to do that, still, it is innate in their bones. You even call them being lazy, you’d be rewarded with those you gotta be kidding me
eyes.
POINT BREEZE KINGDOM – BEFORE NOON
H is preparing her lunch in the kitchen. King’s lunch as well.
It’s time for lunch, Your Majesty!
Silence.
Time for lunch!
No answer. Servant H thought it strange, went upstairs to find Johnny.
zzZ. zZZ…
He would never miss a meal call if he’d ever be awaken.
H lets Johnny sleep for a while at the window.
After a while…
H finished her lunch and clearing up the dishes.
H hears Johnny running down the stairs.
I’m late for lunch, H?!
Johnny breathes so hard.
Rest assured. Your lunch is here.
Johnny ran to the lunch bowl. Gobbling them up.
Chew well, Your Majesty.
Johnny doesn’t listen to H and He finished them within a few minutes.
You were asleep when I called out you around noon. Anyway, you should chew your food well, otherwise, it would flow back.
Soon after H said that Johnny regurgitates a large amount of food he’s just eaten.
I told you!
Johnny looks at H with a sad look.
I think I saw some dreams in my nap.
Did you? What kind?
I was eating fabulously grilled lamb. Plenty of it. That smell is still in my nose. Hmm…!
Johnny’s eyes look dreaming.
You must be in that dream, still. Your eyes look you are in love with someone, or some cat badly. But why you sleep that long?
You don’t know, yet H? Being a hunter requires a lot of energy, instantaneous muscular strength, and patience to catch a prey. Huge muscle power, so to speak.
Right. I notice even when you seem taking a nap, you are somewhat alert to the surroundings. Like your ears are constantly moving to some noise.
You are right, H! It’s kind a light sleep. Half-awake, half-asleep. We need to be ready to protect ourselves at any times.
Ha, that’s why. So you are not listening in on our conversation, but it’s for your protection.
Of course not! I am not listening in on your conversation that you two are thinking to order ramen bowls for this evening, so you don’t have to cook.
Thought you were taking a nap when we had that conversation!
